This week we announced three recipients of the MFDA’s President’s Award. Also in this week, we congratulated and listed the graduates of the funeral service programs at Cape Cod Community College, North Shore Community College, and Goodwin University; shared MFDA President Brian Folsom’s address to the graduates of North Shore Community College’s Funeral Service Program; reported that the ABFSE Accreditation Team met with Goodwin University’s Funeral Service  Advisory Board; updated the progress of the funding in the state budget for free community college education; and reminded funeral directors of Boston burial permits having a new online payment processor.

This week we announced that QuickSubmit as the online tool to share documents with the Veterans Administration's Evidence Intake Center. Also in this week, we provided highlights from the MFDA’s quarterly meeting, shared Worcester Telegram’s Memorial Day publishing deadlines, welcomed new Sperry and McHoul Funeral Home owner Matthew Pichi, and announced that Rosewood Private Investments acquired Milestone Funeral Partners and announced the June 12 annual meeting of MFDA.

This week we issued a legislative alert about two pending bills before the state legislature that funeral directors should be aware of. Also in this issue, we reminded directors that May is Mental Health Awareness Month and that the National Funeral Directors Association has partnered with SupportLinc to offer a member assistance program; shared information about the spring 2024 funeral service program graduate pinning events at regional schools; and asked volunteers to assist plant flags on the graves at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam for Memorial Day.
