Proposed Right of Disposition Legislation

The Joint Committee on Judiciary held a hearing on April 22, 2025, to discuss two bills on the Right of Disposition. These bills aim to address issues faced by funeral homes when there are disputes over who is the legal next of kin, when the responsible party refuses to take charge, when they can't be found, or when no known next of kin exists.
 
The MFDA strongly supports these bills and has submitted written testimony to the committee. We urge you to review the proposed bills and our statement.
