This week we reported on our request for an advisory opinion from the State Board in Embalming and Funeral Directing regarding the arrangement between the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). Also in this issue, we announced that our Advocacy Action Center was mobilized in response to two House bills – supporting vaccines for funeral service workers during a health emergency and opposing the OCME-DTA agreement – and announced that a USPS audit found that there were 452 undeliverable or unidentifiable packages of cremated remains at its Atlanta center.
