This week we announced that we recently sent a letter to the State Board in Embalming and Funeral Directing asking to allow funeral service school graduates to complete their licensing exams shortly after graduation rather than waiting until the completion of their two-year apprenticeship. Also in this issue, we reminded members that our new Advocacy Action Center is mobilized so you can advocate for two important bills that affect funeral service, reminded members about the Sept. 14 OSHA online training session, relayed that another scam attempt was reported by one of our members, congratulated Nicole Kamishlian of Northbridge as a recipient of our 2023 Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association Presidents' Award, announced that the funeral service program at Goodwin University has scheduled a virtual information session for August 9, announced that Fort Devens Post Cemetery will soon close for first burials, and reported an assortment of news about members who were active in the community.
